Our employability programmes are specifically designed for young people in Scotland aged 16-24 who are not in work, education or training, facing long term unemployment and/or disadvantage. Our innovative support closes the gaps in employment and training between young people from disadvantage backgrounds and their better-off peers.

Change Cycle

Supports participants to build aspiration, motivation and self-confidence while developing key employability skills.

This programme is for young people aged 16-24 who are not in work, education or training, facing long term unemployment and disadvantage or potentially at risk of (re-)offending or anti-social behaviour.

Who is Change Cycle for?

The service is specifically designed for young people aged 16-24 who are not in work, education or training, facing long term unemployment and/or disadvantage.

With restrictions easing more since our last programmes, Employability elements will be delivered across both classroom and digital methods and the bike building and mechanical elements will be delivered in the workshop by our partners 听and . Though we are anticipating a mostly hands-on and face-to-face programme, there will still be some digital elements if required or appropriate.

What is Change Cycle?

Change Cycle is a free employability service.

  • A hands-on employability programme delivered through classroom and workshop environments. Later weeks of the programme will also involved workplace tours, tasters and motivational talks from a range of partners and local employers. The programme is delivered in partnership with听Bike for Good in Glasgow,听The Bike Station in Edinburgh听and听The West Lothian Bike Library in Livingston.
  • During the course each participant will: learn about building their own bike and bike maintenance, as well as being taught cycle and road safety. The participants of the course will be given the tools to strengthen personal and employability skills, receive certified SQA and Bike Mechanic training and combine all of this learning and experience into a 鈥渇it for purpose鈥 CV.
  • Participants will get to keep their bike and receive a cycling kit to help them ride safely to job interviews, access services and travel to work or college.
  • Following the course, support will be provided from 海角社区's Employability Team which is guided by the participants' individual goals and personal action plans.
  • The service can be a progression route for participants from other 海角社区 programmes but places are also available to external clients who meet the criteria and are assessed as ready for the programme by our Employability Team.

Who it's for:鈥 Young people who have experienced challenging life circumstances and recently completed a 海角社区 programme or equivalent.
